This Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy establishes the principles and expectations governing the creation, use, protection, and distribution of copyrighted materials and intellectual property within the MAI AIM Academy community. The policy applies to all students, faculty, instructors, contractors, employees, website visitors, and any individual who accesses or uses academy resources.
Purpose of This Policy
The purpose of this policy is to promote responsible use of copyrighted materials, protect the intellectual property of MAI AIM Academy and others, encourage ethical academic practices, and ensure compliance with applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
All members of the academy community are expected to understand and respect the ownership rights associated with educational materials, digital content, software, research, publications, multimedia, and other creative works.
Ownership of Academy Materials
Unless otherwise stated in writing, all educational content created or owned by MAI AIM Academy is the exclusive intellectual property of the academy or is used under appropriate license or permission.
This includes, but is not limited to, online courses, lesson plans, lecture notes, presentations, videos, recordings, assessments, quizzes, examinations, assignments, syllabi, curriculum designs, learning modules, graphics, illustrations, logos, branding, website content, downloadable resources, student handbooks, policy documents, instructional guides, software developed by the academy, and other educational materials made available through academy platforms.
These materials are protected under applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
Limited License for Students
Students enrolled at MAI AIM Academy are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access academy materials solely for their personal educational use during their enrollment.
This license permits students to view, download, and use course materials only as necessary to participate in their registered courses and academic activities. The license does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property rights to the student.
Students may not reproduce, distribute, publish, modify, translate, record, sell, license, or otherwise exploit academy materials without prior written authorization from MAI AIM Academy.
Copyright Protection
All original content created by MAI AIM Academy is protected by applicable national and international copyright laws. Copyright protection exists regardless of whether copyright notices appear on individual materials.
Unauthorized copying, scanning, recording, photographing, downloading, uploading, sharing, broadcasting, or distributing academy materials without permission may constitute copyright infringement and may result in disciplinary action, civil liability, or other legal remedies available under applicable law.
The academy actively protects its intellectual property and reserves all rights not expressly granted under this policy.
Student-Created Work
Students generally retain ownership of the original academic work they create, including essays, research papers, projects, presentations, portfolios, software, artwork, and other original submissions, unless otherwise agreed in writing or required by a specific program.
By submitting academic work for assessment, students grant MAI AIM Academy a limited license to review, evaluate, store, reproduce, and maintain copies of submitted work for educational, administrative, accreditation, quality assurance, academic integrity, and recordkeeping purposes.
The academy may also use anonymized student work for instructional examples, program improvement, accreditation reviews, or educational demonstrations unless prohibited by law or specifically declined by the student where applicable.
Faculty and Instructor Materials
Faculty members, instructors, guest lecturers, contractors, and instructional designers may develop educational resources while providing services to MAI AIM Academy. Ownership of these materials is governed by applicable employment agreements, contractor agreements, licensing arrangements, institutional policies, and applicable intellectual property laws.
Individuals creating educational materials on behalf of the academy should ensure that all content complies with copyright laws and that appropriate permissions have been obtained when incorporating third-party materials.
Appropriate Use of Third-Party Materials
MAI AIM Academy respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects all members of the academy community to do the same.
Students and instructors should obtain appropriate permission before copying or distributing copyrighted books, articles, journals, software, videos, music, photographs, graphics, databases, or other protected materials unless such use is permitted under applicable copyright laws, licensing agreements, or recognized educational exceptions.
Whenever third-party materials are incorporated into academic work or instructional resources, proper attribution and citation should be provided according to recognized academic standards.
Trademarks and Academy Branding
The MAI AIM Academy name, logo, trademarks, service marks, graphics, slogans, branding elements, and other identifying marks are valuable institutional assets and remain the exclusive property of MAI AIM Academy unless otherwise stated.
These marks may not be reproduced, modified, displayed, used in advertisements, incorporated into other materials, or used to imply endorsement, affiliation, or partnership without prior written authorization from the academy.
Unauthorized use of academy branding may result in legal action to protect institutional identity and reputation.
Recording Classes and Educational Sessions
Students may not record live classes, lectures, webinars, meetings, virtual office hours, discussions, or other instructional activities without prior authorization from the instructor and MAI AIM Academy.
Any authorized recordings remain subject to this Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy and may not be distributed, uploaded, shared publicly, sold, or used for commercial purposes without written permission.
Likewise, academy-produced recordings remain the intellectual property of MAI AIM Academy unless otherwise specified.
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Content
Students are expected to use artificial intelligence tools responsibly and ethically in accordance with academy policies and instructor expectations. AI-generated content does not exempt students from respecting copyright laws or academic integrity requirements.
Students remain responsible for ensuring that submitted work complies with copyright laws, citation standards, licensing requirements, and course-specific academic expectations.
The unauthorized use of copyrighted material within AI-generated assignments may still constitute copyright infringement or academic misconduct.
Copyright Infringement
MAI AIM Academy prohibits the unauthorized use, reproduction, distribution, modification, or publication of copyrighted materials belonging to the academy or to third parties.
Individuals who believe that their copyrighted work has been used improperly through academy systems are encouraged to notify the MAI AIM Academy Student Support Center or appropriate administrative office. Reports should include sufficient information to identify the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing material, and the basis of the complaint.
The academy will review reported concerns promptly and take appropriate action when necessary.
Violations of This Policy
Violations of this Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy may result in disciplinary action depending on the nature and severity of the violation.
Possible consequences may include removal of unauthorized materials, academic penalties, suspension of system access, course failure, revocation of certificates, disciplinary review, termination of enrollment or employment, contractual remedies, and legal action where appropriate.
The academy reserves the right to protect its intellectual property through all lawful means available.
Policy Updates
MAI AIM Academy may revise this Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy periodically to reflect changes in educational practices, technology, legal requirements, licensing standards, or institutional operations.
Updated versions of this policy become effective upon publication through official academy communication channels. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are encouraged to review this policy regularly.
