Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy

The purpose of this policy is to establish expectations for equal opportunity and respectful conduct throughout the MAI AIM ACADEMY community. The policy is intended to help ensure that individuals have meaningful opportunities to participate in educational programs, academic activities, student services, and employment-related opportunities without experiencing unlawful discrimination or harassment.

This policy provides general guidance regarding equal access to educational opportunities, prohibited discrimination and harassment, community responsibilities, reporting concerns, response procedures, non-retaliation, and the academy’s continuing commitment to an inclusive learning environment.

MAI AIM ACADEMY is committed to providing educational opportunities based on legitimate academic requirements, qualifications, individual effort, program expectations, and applicable institutional standards rather than personal characteristics unrelated to academic or professional requirements.

The academy strives to create an environment where students can pursue their educational goals without unnecessary barriers resulting from discrimination, prejudice, bias, or unequal treatment. Admissions decisions, academic evaluations, student support services, participation opportunities, and other institutional decisions are intended to be based on legitimate educational or operational criteria and applied consistently.

Nothing in this policy is intended to prevent the academy from establishing legitimate academic, professional, technical, or program-specific requirements that are reasonably related to the objectives of a course, program, position, or service.

MAI AIM ACADEMY does not discriminate in its educational programs, admissions processes, student services, employment practices, or institutional activities on the basis of characteristics protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

This commitment includes protection, as applicable under law, based on characteristics such as race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, religion, age, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, medical condition, veteran status, genetic information, or other legally protected status.

The academy is committed to applying this policy consistently and to reviewing concerns regarding discrimination or unequal treatment in a fair and appropriate manner.

This policy applies to members of the MAI AIM ACADEMY community, including prospective students, enrolled students, faculty members, instructors, staff members, contractors, academic partners, and visitors participating in academy activities.

The policy applies to conduct and interactions associated with academy activities, whether they occur through online courses, virtual classrooms, student discussions, academic communications, student support services, administrative processes, academy-sponsored activities, or other educational or institutional settings.

This policy applies to all members of the MAI AIM Academy community, including:

The policy applies to interactions occurring through:

MAI AIM ACADEMY recognizes that learners come from diverse backgrounds and bring different experiences, perspectives, interests, and approaches to the educational environment. We believe that a respectful and inclusive learning community can encourage collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and broader understanding.

All members of the academy community are expected to contribute to an environment where individuals are treated with dignity and where differences can be discussed respectfully. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to engage in thoughtful academic discussion, consider different perspectives, communicate professionally, and avoid conduct that unnecessarily demeans or excludes others.

Discrimination occurs when an individual is treated unfairly or denied equal access to educational opportunities based on a protected characteristic.

Examples of prohibited discrimination may include:

MAI AIM Academy evaluates concerns related to discrimination seriously and works to address them appropriately.

MAI AIM ACADEMY prohibits unlawful harassment and other inappropriate conduct that targets an individual because of a characteristic protected by applicable law and that may create an intimidating, hostile, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate educational or working environment.

Depending on the circumstances, harassment may include unwelcome verbal, written, digital, or physical conduct directed toward an individual because of a protected characteristic. Examples may include offensive or derogatory remarks, repeated inappropriate communications, threats or intimidation, discriminatory jokes or materials, or discriminatory conduct through academy technology or communication platforms.

The academy recognizes that context, frequency, severity, and impact may be relevant when evaluating a concern. Not every disagreement, academic discussion, interpersonal conflict, or expression of an unpopular opinion necessarily constitutes unlawful harassment or discrimination. Concerns will be reviewed based on the circumstances and applicable standards.

MAI AIM ACADEMY is committed to maintaining an educational environment free from sexual harassment and inappropriate sexual conduct.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, sexual harassment may include unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, inappropriate sexual comments, or other unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that affects an individual’s educational or professional experience or contributes to a hostile or inappropriate environment.

Reports involving sexual harassment or sexual misconduct will be handled with appropriate seriousness, respect, and confidentiality to the extent reasonably possible. Where applicable, the academy will follow relevant institutional procedures and legal requirements.

MAI AIM ACADEMY is committed to providing equitable educational opportunities for students with disabilities and documented accessibility needs. The academy works to reduce unnecessary barriers and, when appropriate, provide reasonable accommodations consistent with applicable requirements and the essential learning outcomes of academic programs.

Students who require disability-related assistance are encouraged to contact the MAI AIM ACADEMY Student Support Center according to the procedures described in the academy’s accessibility and disability support policies.

Information concerning disability or accommodation requests will be handled respectfully and confidentially to the extent reasonably possible and appropriate.

Every member of the MAI AIM ACADEMY community has a role in maintaining a respectful and inclusive educational environment. Students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community are expected to treat others with dignity, avoid discriminatory or harassing behavior, respect appropriate differences in perspectives and experiences, communicate professionally, and follow applicable academy policies and standards.

Members of the community are encouraged to report concerns when they believe discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or other prohibited conduct may have occurred. Creating an inclusive educational environment requires active participation and shared responsibility.

Individuals who believe they have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, unequal treatment, or retaliation are encouraged to report their concerns through official MAI AIM ACADEMY support channels.

Reports should provide as much relevant information as reasonably available, which may include a description of the concern, the date and location or digital platform where the incident occurred, the individuals involved, relevant communications, and supporting documentation when available.

Reports may be submitted by students, applicants, faculty members, employees, contractors, or other members of the academy community. Individuals do not need to determine whether conduct legally constitutes discrimination or harassment before raising a good-faith concern.

MAI AIM ACADEMY will review concerns regarding discrimination, harassment, and equal opportunity in a manner intended to be fair, respectful, and appropriate to the circumstances.

Depending on the nature of a concern, the academy may review available information, communicate with individuals involved, request additional information or documentation, consult applicable policies or requirements, and determine appropriate next steps.

The academy will make reasonable efforts to protect the privacy of individuals involved in a review. However, confidentiality cannot always be guaranteed, particularly when disclosure is necessary to conduct an appropriate review, provide support, comply with legal requirements, or protect the safety and rights of members of the community.

The specific response to a concern will depend on the circumstances, available information, applicable policies, and legal requirements.

MAI AIM ACADEMY prohibits retaliation against individuals who, in good faith, report discrimination or harassment, request disability-related support, participate in an authorized review or investigation, or raise concerns regarding equal opportunity practices.

Individuals who participate in a reporting or review process in good faith should not be subjected to adverse treatment because they sought assistance or participated in the process.

Concerns regarding possible retaliation may be reported through the academy’s official support channels and may be reviewed separately from the underlying concern.

MAI AIM ACADEMY encourages individuals to report concerns honestly and in good faith. Knowingly providing materially false information or intentionally submitting a misleading report may result in appropriate action under applicable academy policies.

However, a concern will not be considered false simply because it cannot be substantiated or because the available information does not establish that a policy violation occurred. Good-faith reports are taken seriously and will not be treated as misconduct merely because the concern is ultimately not substantiated.

Violations of this Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy may result in appropriate corrective or disciplinary action consistent with applicable academy policies and requirements.

Depending on the circumstances and seriousness of the conduct, possible responses may include educational discussions, warnings, required training, restrictions on participation, disciplinary measures under applicable student or employee policies, suspension, or termination of academy privileges or relationships where appropriate.

The academy will consider the circumstances of each matter when determining an appropriate response.

MAI AIM ACADEMY is committed to continuously improving its policies, practices, educational services, and institutional environment to promote inclusion, fairness, equal opportunity, and respectful participation.

We periodically review our procedures and encourage members of the academic community to provide constructive feedback regarding opportunities to strengthen our commitment to non-discrimination and inclusive education.

As educational environments, technologies, legal requirements, and institutional practices evolve, the academy may update its policies and procedures to reflect current needs and applicable requirements.

MAI AIM ACADEMY may periodically revise this Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy to reflect changes in applicable laws or regulations, institutional practices, educational standards, technology, or community needs.

Updated versions of the policy become effective upon publication through the academy’s official communication channels or website, unless otherwise stated.

Students, faculty, staff, and other members of the academy community are encouraged to review the policy periodically to remain informed about current expectations and procedures.

Questions, concerns, or reports related to discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity, accessibility, or inclusive practices may be directed to the MAI AIM ACADEMY Student Support Center through the official contact information provided on the academy website.

Our team is committed to handling inquiries and concerns professionally, respectfully, and with appropriate attention to privacy. Whenever reasonably possible, the academy aims to acknowledge or respond to inquiries within two business days, although response times may vary depending on the nature and complexity of the matter.
